We’re also passionately profit-for-purpose. That means every dollar of profit made from our commercial activities goes towards our mission. So if you’re investing in a first aid course, purchasing first aid essentials for your home or workplace, or making a donation, you’re investing back in the community – training volunteers and providing essential health and emergency services to as many people as we can.
First Aid in Schools
We believe every child in Australia should have access to vital first aid knowledge.
Our free program teaches life-saving skills to primary school children, giving them the confidence to act in an emergency. We’ll come to your school for a 60-minute session.
More than 178 primary schools completed the Little First Aiders program in 2022.
The Little First Aiders eLearning program provides vital education to primary school students in a virtual setting. Through a range of videos, games and interactive activities, the students will walk away with the confidence to assist in an emergency, and a first aid certificate.
Deliver the course online, at a time that suits you. There’s no need for the teacher to be trained in teaching first aid.
At St John Ambulance NSW, our volunteers are our lifeblood. We couldn’t function without our dedicated volunteers, who are passionate about creating resilient communities, and empowered with first aid skills and health services ready to help those in need.
70% of our volunteer base is aged under 30 years.
Through consistent recruitment, improved resources, and increased volunteer opportunities, we’re empowering the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. We offer a ‘buddy’ system and mentoring support for new volunteers, which helps develop leadership capabilities.
The difference we made in 2023 was significant. From supporting our state in times of crisis, to improving first aid knowledge in schools, and providing key medical support at events and public spaces across the state.
"Absolutely wonderful! The program was well presented with practical activities for students to reinforce their learning of first aid. I would certainly recommend this program to any school."
Heaton Public School, Jesmond
"The students thoroughly enjoyed using the e-Learning format and have had a lot of fun doing it. It has brought the class together and led to lots of great discussions. The beauty of the format is that teachers can deliver at a time that suits them. I’d highly recommend it to other schools."
