Prerequisites

No pre-work required.

This course does not require any other certification or training to have been completed previously and is suitable for new students.

Certification

On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

        - HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
        - HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
        - HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
St John recommends, as per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed every 3 years and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID0015) are renewed every 12 months.

Assessment Methods

We use a range of different methods to assess you, including written assessments and practical activities.
 
You must be able to perform CPR on the floor for 2 minutes on a manikin. You may need to pair up with another student to complete the practical exercises.

Does this course include CPR?

Yes, Provide First Aid does include CPR training. You can also choose to only complete HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation which, on completion, you will become proficient in providing CPR.

How often do you have to do first aid training?

It's recommended that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training is refreshed every 12 months and Provide First Aid is completed every three years. This is in line with the Safe Work Australia First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.
