A Youth Update

Youth Leadership Level 2 Course develops up-and-coming leaders. Earlier this month, 17 young people spent a weekend at Blaxland participating in training to expand their leadership skills and St John knowledge to Cadet Sergeant level. Cadets from across the state, from Albury to Manning Lakes and in between learnt a wide variety of topics including behaviour management and dispute resolution, delivering training, managing training and drill skills.

The training was well led and organised by the State Youth Team; the course trainers included leaders from Queanbeyan, Blacktown, Singleton, Maitland, Manning and Great Lakes Divisions! The Most Outstanding Cadet (MOC) or Dux was Nicole Scholten from Harbourside Combined Division. Congratulations to all participants and we wish you well in your leadership future.

Upcoming

The St John Ambulance Historical Society of Australia is meeting in November and in our Centenary of St John Youth, its conference will showcase St John Cadets. This an opportunity for youth divisions to tell their story! In preparation, the Society is offering two webinars to help members prepare submissions for publication. The first is being held on 26 August. We recommend these events especially to those who consider that they may be a researcher one day.

There is a new opportunity to join a Youth Mental Health Retreat from 13-14 September run by Usha Makkena at St John NSW Blacktown Hall. This retreat will be hands-on, providing lifelong skills in mental health and resilience, and is open to all cadets aged 15-18.

Places Filling Fast!

Now is the time to register for NatCamp25 while places are available. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that every Cadet aged over 14 will treasure in their St John experience.
