Community Programs

Community is at the heart of everything we do. Through a range of programs and initiatives, St John NSW helps support safer, stronger and more resilient communities across NSW.

From First Aid education to community outreach and youth development, our programs are designed to empower people with practical skills, confidence and support when it matters most.

First Aid in Schools

We believe every child in Australia should have access to vital first aid knowledge.

Our free program teaches life-saving skills to primary school children, giving them the confidence to act in an emergency. We’ll come to your school for a 60-minute session.

St John Youth Program

Young people can make a real difference in their communities, and the St John Youth Program helps inspire and support the next generation to get involved.

More than just First Aid training, the St John Youth Program offers young people opportunities to build confidence, gain practical skills and real-world experience, and form lasting friendships within a supportive community.

Driver First Aid

Anyone can save a life on Australia’s roads, and St John NSW is committed to safer roads and First Aid ready communities.

Through programs and initiatives such as Driver First Aid and Defibs in Trucks, St John is helping equip drivers with the practical skills and confidence to respond in a roadside emergency.

AED Point

Making life-saving defibrillators more accessible in public spaces through our AED Point initiative

We support communities to install and maintain defibrillators (AEDs) in shared community spaces, so help is close by and ready when a sudden cardiac emergency occurs.

Our AED Point initiative helps contribute to the growing network of publicly accessible defibrillators across communities in NSW.

Testimonial

"Absolutely wonderful! The program was well presented with practical activities for students to reinforce their learning of first aid. I would certainly recommend this program to any school."

Jesmond

Heaton Public School

"The students thoroughly enjoyed using the e-Learning format and have had a lot of fun doing it. It has brought the class together and led to lots of great discussions. The beauty of the format is that teachers can deliver at a time that suits them. I’d highly recommend it to other schools."

Riverwood

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

"St John has provided him a positive sense of identity and belonging, and that he is part of something bigger than himself. It has been very positive for his self-esteem, and we are deeply grateful."
