The Pulse – March 2026

Dear Team,

Never a dull moment in St John. I cannot believe it is March already and as always, our teams have responded to every challenge with care, commitment and clinical excellence.

Our members have been busy delivering critical disaster response training and conducting interoperability exercises to ensure we remain prepared and Ready to Respond. The Tamworth Country Music Festival, Australia Day events, KMPG Sail GP, Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, Event Health Services, Carriageworks and the Asia Cup Training sessions across Brisbane, Sydney and Perth dominated a hectic start to the new year for our teams. We met all challenges head on thanks to a commitment to collaboration and teamwork shown by our events team and the Leaders and members at all levels of the organisation. Well done team and thank you for your service.

It was an absolute joy to celebrate our organisation’s diversity and inclusion at the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade recently. Being part of this vibrant event reminded me of our commitment to serving all people with compassion and respect, and I was proud to see St John NSW members stand with the community in such a meaningful way.

I’m particularly excited about our continued partnership with the NSW Rural Women’s Network, bringing fully funded first aid and mental health training to eight new regional locations. Thank you to Jorgie, Erica, Lyn, Sue and Anthony who powered this initiative forward in our commitment to ensuring that vital lifesaving skills reach every corner of our state, including rural and remote communities.

Congratulations to the Youth Team and leaders who opened our newest division at West Pymble. We are exceeding our cadet numbers at rates that outstrip our leadership capacity. We must keep moving forward, and I encourage those with a passion for mentoring and empowering young people to step up to leadership roles and help us address the more than 400 young people currently waiting to join our Divisions.

Supporting our growth in Adults and Youth, we continue to enhance our Members’ Intranet to better support members with the resources and information needed to serve effectively. Your feedback and patience has helped shape the site to be a continually evolving and long-term space for members to visit.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and service.

We are the Medical Reserve and we are Ready To Respond.

Empowering Rural Women in 2026

We are excited to partner with NSW Rural Women’s Network to continue delivering fully funded, nationally accredited First Aid and Mental Health crisis support training to regional women in 2026.

Everything You Need Is Here!

2025 was a milestone honouring 100 years of developing young leaders and nurturing generations of confident, compassionate volunteers. It has been a year full of celebrations, and now, we look ahead.

Tamworth Country Music Festival

Ten days, three hundred thousand attendees, seven hundred performers, and right there in the middle of it all… two St John NSW medical posts and one medicab. What makes this country music festival so special?

Multi-Agency Disaster Training

Local volunteers, alongside members of our Emergency Response Team, joined forces with government and other agencies to simulate the setup and operation of an Evacuation Centre during a bushfire emergency.
