The Pulse – April 2026

Dear Team,

I hope many of you were able to take a moment to enjoy the recent long weekend and spend time with family and friends.

The Easter period is a busy period for the St John team and while the Sydney Royal Easter Show dominates our teams are also busy across multiple other venues and events including Qudos, McDonald Jones Stadium and many other metropolitan and rural community events.  While some of us had the chance to spend time with families and celebrate Easter, St John volunteers continue to step forward to support our communities. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to contribute during this high-demand time.

Over the past month, there has also been a strong focus on training and preparedness across our divisions. From flood rescue training alongside the SES to preparations training for the Sydney Royal Easter Show, our members continue to build the capability and interoperability that underpin our role as the Medical Reserve. It was encouraging to see this reflected at the recent National Parliamentary Friends event, where our Ed Anstee gave a speech as the centrepiece of the St John Australia emergency services volunteering capability which highlighted our response to disasters nationally.

I am thrilled by the expansion of our community defibrillator network, improving access to life-saving equipment in the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby area with our first of ten community access defibrillators being installed and opened at West Pymble. Well done to all those involved to bring this to life to save lives!

Initiatives like this ensure we continue to meet our mission in the service of humanity.

You’ll also see our new “Unofficial Sponsor” campaign now live across Sydney. It’s a powerful acknowledgement of the role you play every day – often behind the scenes – supporting the safety and wellbeing of people across NSW. We want the green to be seen and this highlights St John’s important role in supporting all events as the “Unofficial Sponsor” of everyday activities.

More Defibs, More Life Saves

This month, we’ve begun the installation of 10 new publicly accessible defibrillators across Sydney’s north in partnership with Community Bank Lindfield. G5 defibs are being placed in high-traffic and high-risk locations.

Impact Report 2025

We’re excited to be able to share with you the 2025 St John NSW Impact Report! This report captures the dedication and service of our members over the past year, supporting communities when it matters most.

Flood Rescue Training – Volunteering in Emergencies

Seeing multi-agency collaboration in action: Our volunteers from different divisions recently joined the NSW SES for a Flood Rescue training exercise.

The Unofficial Sponsor of…

We have launched the new The Unofficial Sponsor campaign – this will be a national campaign but spearheaded by us in St John NSW! You will be seeing this campaign around the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year, across billboards and signage.
