Simple Ways to Make Sure Your Workplace Meets all First Aid Requirements Ahead of this EOFY

Simple Ways to Make Sure Your Workplace Meets all First Aid Requirements Ahead of this EOFY

No matter where you work, whether at a desk, a workshop or out on a worksite, prioritising the safety of your employees is essential. Investing in First Aid training helps you to equip your team with life-saving skills and create a safer workplace for everyone.

As the end of the financial year rapidly approaches, now is the perfect time to audit your workplace’s First Aid readiness and make sure you start the new financial year ready for any emergency.

Not sure where to begin? Start by asking the following questions.

Not sure where to begin? Start by asking the following questions.

  1. Review workplace risks. Every workplace has a legal responsibility for ensuring adequate First Aid provisions.
  2. Audit your First Aid kits and restock any low stock, missing or expired items. Is your First Aid kit fully stocked? Check for missing or low items. Do you know where the kit is kept? Visibility and quick access matter. Check expiry dates.
  3. Book refresher training for staff whose certification is due to lapse, or anyone else who wants to learn First Aid and CPR. Has your team completed recent First Aid training? Skills should be refreshed regularly.
  4. Do you have an AED (automated external defibrillator) and do staff know how to use it? If you don’t have an AED, consider whether one is appropriate for your workplace and arrange training.
