Course Outline

This course covers the following:

  • DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations
  • Managing unconscious breathing casualties
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Using a defibrillator (AED)
  • Legal issues in first aid
  • Infection control

Duration

2 hour online course plus mandatory pre-work.

If online mandatory pre-work is not completed prior to the course date, students will not be permitted to enter the class and will not receive certification.

In addition to the training kit you will receive in the post, all students will need to have a personal computer or tablet, reliable internet connection and secondary device to participate in this online course.

The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID0015) are renewed every 12 months. Please also refer to specific industry standards and guidelines.


Assessment Methods

Government directions require participants to perform first aid assessment tasks on another person, who acts as the ‘mock casualty’.

Participants need to arrange a second person to join them for 1hr 15 mins in the second half of the class time.
