Dear Team,
Welcome to the first edition of The Pulse for 2025, I hope you had some quality time with family over Christmas and I extend my best wishes to you for 2025.
It’s so good to see our teams back after holidays looking so energised, we have certainly hit the ground running which is fantastic.
My thanks to our members who provided expert Medical Services at the 2024 Sydney New Years Eve deployments as part of our major events coverage for Sydney of Sydney. This was followed by a flurry of events across state and divisional areas including The Country Music Festival in Tamworth, the end of carriage works concert series, multiple Australia Day Events and most recently the Tag competition in Coffs Harbour.
It has been a very positive start to the year, and we will need to maintain this momentum to deliver some important initiatives. I am delighted to announce our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been approved by Reconciliation Australia with a launch event to be scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. Nationally, we will celebrate 100 years of empowering young people through the St John Youth Program which for a century has built our future leaders, nurtured life-saving skills, and encouraged community spirit, and I am very excited for these celebrations in September culminating in NSW hosting the National Camp. In November, St John NSW will host the National St John Priory Chapter meetings in Sydney with members from across Australia coming together for the Priory celebrations.
Finally, if that wasn’t enough, this past weekend I was proud and excited to take part alongside our members in our first Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras parade reinforcing our inclusion objectives and strengthening our brand as a place to belong.
Thank you all for your service.
Dom
