St John NSW recently partnered with fellow emergency services agencies to run the Life Ready Fire & Resilience Program at Freshwater Senior Campus, delivering practical, hands-on learning to high school students. Volunteers delivered interactive workshops, equipping participants with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies.
In collaboration with Girls on Fire Australia, the program offered students the opportunity to participate in a range of realistic scenarios, which focused on empowering and preparing young people for challenging situations. Participants were highly engaged as they received practical training in CPR and wound management, demonstrating an eagerness to apply the techniques they learned.
This event exemplified the importance of multi-agency cooperation. Alongside NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW State Emergency Service and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service volunteers were able to share their specialist knowledge, covering fire safety, resilience-building and environmental awareness alongside first aid.
Overall, the day was a resounding success and a testament to community-focused education. We extend our thanks to everyone involved and look forward to future collaboration opportunities alongside Girls on Fire Australia and our emergency services colleagues to prepare and empower young people across NSW.
