Celebrating our Volunteers During National Volunteer Week 2026

From the 18 – 24 May, we celebrated National Volunteer Week, which was a wonderful opportunity to pause, reflect, and recognise the extraordinary contribution of all volunteers across the country. For St John NSW, it was a chance to celebrate the dedicated people whose service truly defines our organisation.

This year’s theme, “Your Year to Volunteer,” serves as a reminder that volunteering in the service of others is one of the most meaningful decisions a person can make. Your example can inspire and encourage others in yourlocal community and across the state to donate their skills, time and experience in the service of others.

The scale of what our volunteer workforce has achieved together is remarkable. Last year alone, St John NSW members contributed over 290,000 volunteer hours, delivered safety coverage at 85 major events and more than 3,000 community events, and treated close to 10,000 patients.

Whether you’re visible on the frontline or quietly supporting behind the scenes, your contribution is seen and deeply valued. You show up in moments of emergency, uncertainty and everyday connection, building trust within communities across NSW.

To every St John NSW volunteer, we are truly thankful for your service.
