FAQ
It's really small. Does that make it less powerful?
No. Making it compact didn’t compromise on power – clinical performance isn’t a function of size.
It has the same biphasic shock energy as a full size AED – 150J on the Adult setting, and 50J on the Child setting.
It's small, but it's still pretty big for a 'pocket device'?
The device weighs 700g, and has the same footprint as an iPhone. It weighs less than a bottle of water and can fit in a pocket, a glovebox, tool bag or jacket.
I already have an AED. Why would I need the Pocket AED?
A fixed AED in a cabinet or in a wall mount covers the building or immediate radius of where it’s installed. The Pocket AED can be right where the emergency is, extending coverage to vehicles, field teams, and sites without fixed coverage. Most people will need both.
Can I rely on a device I don't have to think about?
That’s the point. Automatic daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests means peace of mind – it’s reliable and ready. It uses a purpose-built lithium battery. When you need it, it’s ready.
Do I need special training to use the Pocket AED?
Voice and LED prompts calmly and clearly guide you through every step. The Pocket AED has been designed to help everyday people in their worst moments, not just trained medical responders.

Could I use the Pocket AED in the rain, or if the person is wet?
Can the Pocket AED be used on both adults and children?
Yes. Often, there are different pads in the defibrillator kit – in different sizes for a child’s body compared to an adult’s body. This makes it safer for children, but never hesitate to use a defibrillator on a child, even if there are only larger pads available. The defibrillator will measure the heartbeat and know this is a child, so will only deliver the shock needed for a child, which is different to the shock needed for an adult. As the user or rescuer, you don’t need to do anything differently.
