General information

Yes, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid does include CPR training.

You can also choose to only complete HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, which means, on completion, you will become proficient in providing CPR.

As a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) you must ensure an adequate number of workers are trained to administer first aid at the workplace or workers have access to an adequate number of other people who have been trained to administer first aid.

In line with SafeWork NSW, the following ratios are recommended:

Prices can vary depending on the course you decide to book, and whether it’s online or face-to-face delivery. For more information on pricing, please click here.

It’s recommended that Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training is refreshed every 12 months, and Provide First Aid is completed every three years. This is in line with the Safe Work Australia First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.

In an emergency situation, you should render assistance while adhering to the scope of your training. If you’re not trained in first aid, then you can always call Triple Zero (000) and they will guide you through what steps to take.

*To enrol in nationally recognised training, you need to provide St John with your unique student identifier. A USI is a reference number made up of ten (10) characters (numbers and letters). Your unique number creates a secure on-line record of your recognised training and qualifications undertaken from all Australia training providers you have undertake recognised training with since 1 January 2015. It gives you access to your training transcripts and allows you to produce a comprehensive written record of your all training achievements.

St John can only issue statements of attainment and qualification documents when you have provided a valid USI
at the time of enrolment, or with a notice of exemption.

To obtain a USI number or to update your details go to www.usi.gov.au or call our Customer Service team on 1300 857 536.

First aid courses include both theory and practical demonstration of possible first aid scenarios. First aid situations require specific steps that must be followed to ensure the casualty is treated with optimum care at all times and to avoid causing any further damage.

Private group training can be conducted onsite at your workplace/site/home at any time or at one of our training locations and can be further customised to suit your needs.

A first aid certificate doesn’t quite ‘expire’, but it does need to be refreshed at regular intervals to ensure the information is current and reflects best practice.

It’s recommended that Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training is refreshed every 12 months, and Provide First Aid is completed every three years. This is in line with the Safe Work Australia First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.

Accredited training is nationally recognised and involves a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) issuing a nationally recognised qualification or Statement of Attainment following its full or partial completion. St John Ambulance (NSW) delivers nationally recognised training and assessment on behalf of St John Ambulance Australia (RTO 88041).

Non-accredited training does not lead to a recognised qualification; rather, the focus is on equipping students with a specific knowledge and skill set.
